“Silent Room” at Bosch

Temporary retreat helps to rearrange one's thoughts.

Where do you go as a team member when you long for some peace, quiet and solitude during a turbulent working day? Is withdrawing into a place of silence during working hours even desirable? And is it productive? In a specially designed "Silent Room" in Bosch's main building in Karlsruhe, employees can now do this and experience for themselves how withdrawing for a short period of time can help them rearrange their thoughts and return to their workplaces in the team area with new ideas and increased energy.

Our task was to redesign an existing area in such a way that it could be used by up to three people at a time. Naturally, the three individuals are not meant to disturb or see each other while in the “Silent Room”. With an ingenious room layout and a mix of different furniture from our COR and Muuto brands as well as individual carpentry work, a room has been created that leads users into concentration mode as soon as they enter. Suitable wallpapers enhance the effect and create an atmosphere that calms the mind. We are delighted that we’re repeatedly called upon by Bosch to realise these special wishes in addition to many partition walls.
