Modernisation in half-timbered houses

Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft, one of the leading scientific publishers, has extensively remodelled the top floor of its existing building to create a modern, inviting working environment that meets the needs of its employees. Particular attention was paid to an attractive colour scheme to make the rooms appear warm and appealing.

The structure of the half-timbered house with numerous small rooms in the attic posed a particular challenge for the planning and positioning of the workstations. The chosen colour palette lends the room a calming and harmonious atmosphere:

  • Caparol Banana Republic: A subtle palm green that reinforces the impression of being surrounded by nature and visually connects the rooms.
  • Caparol Harvest Gold: A warm terracotta in the classic 70s style that, alongside the popular avocado green, characterised the interior trends of the time and is still appreciated today as an expression of warm earth tones.
  • Farrow & Ball Hay: A soft, yellowish colour that is reminiscent of dried hay and has a subtle, calming effect.

A communicative kitchenette for informal meetings and a retreat lounge for video conferences were also designed. The lounge was given a lively, inspiring touch with wallpaper in a jungle design that promotes a sense of well-being.

All furnishings in the work areas have been colour-coordinated with the wall design to create a harmonious, pleasant atmosphere. Other areas of the building are also being redesigned, with the carefully selected colours from the top floor also being used in other rooms to ensure a consistent and individual design.
