New work in new spaces

The pandemic has changed the world of work. Many companies now work in a hybrid environment. Yet the office still has an important function: it is the place where the company expresses its identity, purpose and values. It is where community is created. feco shows how this new form of working can be designed in the feco-forum in Karlsruhe. The individual rooms can be read as bodies, with staggered fronts and free passages. The corridor is dissolved in favour of a flowing, open space. Coming from the platform staircase, one experiences a room for meetings and collaboration, designed with the new fecofix Holz double glazing. Transparent and thus visible, but still well protected. Confidentiality is guaranteed as well as peace and quiet for concentrated joint work. Next to this room, a studio was realised that offers perfect conditions for online communication and the production of film and sound recordings for podcasts and social media contributions.

The further arrangement is determined by a volume of space that acoustically shields the team office and offers two room options for spontaneous meetings. Team members have the choice of communicating either standing up or comfortably in a seating alcove. Both meeting options are quickly accessible from the team area and are equipped with monitors. In the protected team area behind, which serves as a home base, the office team has access to wall-integrated whiteboard surfaces for writing on and hanging up plans, in addition to standing and sitting tables. The adjoining duo studio offers two wall-oriented workstations for a deliberate retreat for two people to work together. The new office suite is rounded off by another team office with space for up to four colleagues.

With the new rooms, feco also impressively demonstrates the disassemblability and reassemblability of the system wall. Many elements have already been presented at the world’s leading trade fair BAU 2023 in Munich. The possibility of non-destructive relocatability is a key feature of the feco wall system and makes the use of feco system walls particularly sustainable.
