„Chewie, we’re home.“
Entrepreneur Marco Beicht, described by Focus magazine as an energy revolutionary, successfully founded the start-up Powercloud in 2012. His energy billing software is used by the largest German electricity providers. Together with his project company KAREMHA real estate, Marco Beicht has created an IT campus with 2,000 square metres of office space in his home town of Achern in Baden. The planning office mhr-architektur from Achern built powercloud's new company headquarters in record time. In addition to the powercloud headquarters, 140 flats, a hotel, a bakery, a restaurant, two underground car parks and charging stations for electric cars, e-bikes and e-scooters are being built on an area of over 20,000 square metres. The IT campus is supplied with sustainable energy from photovoltaic systems and heat pumps. The car-free neighbourhood above ground offers a quality of living and working close to nature.
On the ground floor of the company headquarters, the meeting area is designed to be transparent with the fecoplan all-glass construction with 16 mm LSG-SI and fecodoor S70 structural glazing doors flush on both sides with Rw,P= 37 dB. All meeting rooms are named after spaceships from various science fiction films and designed with corresponding graphics and quotations. On the office floors, the fecoplan glass walls with 12 mm toughened safety glass and a sound insulation test value of Rw,P = 37 dB were designed with fecodoor G10 all-glass doors with 32 dB. The office partition walls can be moved non-destructively as fecowall solid walls. On one side of each room, wall-integrated fecophon S14/2 acoustic panels with vertical slits ensure reduced reverberation times and good room acoustics. From the top floor, KAREMHA real estate GmbH enjoys a view of the nearby Black Forest. The fecoplan all-glass construction enables this far-reaching view with maximum transparency.
The company, which was founded in Achern, is returning home by moving into the Powercloud headquarters, offering talented people from the region and all over the world an extremely attractive working and living environment. Fittingly, a meeting room with the Millennium Falcon spaceship from the Star Wars series is adorned with Han Solo’s quote: “Chewie, we’re home”.
