Alcon Germany

A bright outlook for the new site and its offices

For over 70 years, Alcon has been focusing on good vision. Today, the company is known all over the world for its contact lenses and associated care products. Previously, the "heart of the German contact lens industry" was in Großostheim in Bavaria. In order to create space for 400 new employees and larger production capacities however, the world market leader has now moved its Vision Care 2020 division to Aschaffenburg. Together with Colliers International, feco has planned and designed a modern working landscape here, thereby laying the foundation for further growth.

With its many small-size retreat areas, the spacious Alcon Open Space office simultaneously creates maximum openness and maximum individuality. Located in the immediate vicinity of employee workplaces are think tanks for up to 3 people, into which employees can withdraw at any time for intensive co-creation, concentrated work or inspiration. Think tanks can also be used for short meetings and video conferences. Open-plan kitchenettes on each floor also enable informal exchanges and chance encounters.

One special focus during the planning work was to ensure the possibility of mobile working. This in turn calls for an easily accessible and comprehensive power supply. In order to be able to flexibly charge smartphones and other electrical devices, all the workplaces are therefore equipped with adaptive electrification.

To ensure optimal ergonomic conditions for all employees, each workplace also includes an electrically height-adjustable table. Pinnable acoustic panels not only serve as a practical accessory, but also make the workplaces more homely by offering space for personal items such as notes and pictures, and can also be used as an additional work surface.

To underline the homely character, warm beige and orange tones predominate throughout the working landscape. Together with natural wood surfaces, these harmonise with the characteristic Alcon blue, which runs like a thread through the entire furnishings.

Despite their size and generosity, the new premises thus create a multifunctional working environment that responds to the needs of the individual and the team without sacrificing the overall feel-good character.
