Award for outstanding design

The German Design Prize is one of the most prestigious international design awards. Since 2012, the premium prize of the German Design Council has identified groundbreaking design trends and honoured outstanding achievements in the fields of product design, communication design and architecture. The title “Winner” is awarded to exemplary design projects that set new standards.

In its statement, the jury highlighted the SWR Media Centre’s successful combination of transparency and flexibility. The innovative interior design uses glass and wood elements to create an environment that promotes both concentration and creativity. Coloured solid walls provide accents and add dynamism and vibrancy to the work areas.

The winning project: SWR Media Centre Baden-Baden

Under the direction of Wurm + Wurm Architects, the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) Media Centre was redesigned to create an open, flexible working environment. The result is a light-flooded creative workshop that promotes community and digital development.

The feco system walls made of glass and wood – such as the fecoplan all-glass construction and the fecowand solid wall – create places of retreat for concentrated work in the open-plan areas. Colourful walls in blue, yellow and violet set striking accents, while maritime pine veneers emphasise the workshop character of the agile zones.

The German Design Prize: a platform for design trends

The German Design Award places great emphasis on quality and innovation. Only products and projects that stand out for their excellent design are nominated by a jury of experts. The judging is carried out in a multi-stage process by an international jury of experts. The award highlights the transformative power of design in responding to the challenges of our time. Topics such as digitalisation, circular design and sustainability play a central role. The awards inspire and set standards – not only for the design industry, but also for society and the economy.

The feco team is grateful for this recognition and sees it as an incentive to continue creating innovative and high-quality solutions for contemporary working environments.
